How Do You Road Trip?

Note the bird poop windscreen smudges :).

Road tripping has the potential to be really, really fun or really, really brutal. It depends on a few important factors. If you can ensure at least one of these elements will be taken care of, it’s a good bet your trip will be a blast.

– A good playlist

Good company

– Lots of hydration

– But something to keep you awake, bien sur

– Good reads (if you’re not driving, of course)

This past long weekend I went on a road trip to Penticton, in the Okanagan, the interior of British Columbia. It’s a four to five hour drive, roughly, and that meant it was one of the few times I ever get to listen to one of my favourite playlists all the way through!

The latest craze in the Okanagan seems to be floating on rivers through the city…

I always say I have broad taste in music – I will listen to anything except country. Actually, I will even listen to some country songs if they’re good (I tend to prefer crossover country like the Dixie Chicks). And if I’m in a good ol’ fashioned country bar then I don’t mind some real yee-haw songs to dosey doe to.

However, my favourite playlist is my indie rock playlist. It achieved the star status of all playlists because there isn’t one song I want to skip through when the playlist is on shuffle. That is the sign of a truly good playlist!

So I thought I’d share my playlist with you, as it kept me singing along for more than four hours on a sunny day. What do you listen to when road trippin’?
