December Blog Love: Your Christmas Day Vegetarian Menu

It’s that time again! Time to show some Blog Love, and with this month’s picks you should be able to put together a pretty darn impressive Christmas menu.

Everything will be vegetarian, but many items will also be vegan and/or gluten-free, so there should be something for everyone!

Let’s begin, as always, with my three top posts this month. I don’t include giveaway posts when I consider the top-rated posts (for obvious reasons), but I DO still have a giveaway going on for a delicious sampler of Vitalicious Vitamuffins, so enter now – it closes tonight at 6pm Pacific time!

My top posts for December, in order of hits:

1. WIAW: The iPhone Edition – it could have been all of the iPhone users flocking to this post, or it could have been the promise of the recipe for these delicious Delectable, Divine Like-Lindt-Lindor Truffles

2. The Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap – Recipe Time! – it was so much fun taking part in this cookie swap, and my peppermint chocolate shortbread cookies (vegan!) were a hit :).

3. Your Friday Night Homemade Takeout: Chinese Stirfry – seems we all want to save on calories and money by making our own takeout! This Chinese stirfry is a delicious way to get it in next to no time!

Here were my top picks from the blogosphere this month! Christmas is sounding pretty darn delicious 🙂

Start your day off with a decadent breakfast you might not otherwise treat yourself with. Ari at The Diva Dish worked her butt off coming up with this healthified cinnamon roll recipe and I, for one, cannot WAIT to try them. Reward the lovely girl’s efforts with an ogle at these fine treats – are you drooling yet?

Christmas for me is always about an indulgent breakfast and a big meal, but it is important to keep your blood sugar steady with a light lunch with some protein and good veggies! And, of course, because it’s Christmas it has to be delicious. No eating food that’s any less than delicious on Christmas Day! So here’s where Kris‘ delicious Honey Mustard Roasted Vegetables Over Quinoa comes in – it’s perfect for your Christmas Day lunch, to give you the energy you need to get that dinner whipped up! Enjoy!

Now you’ve filled up on a good breakfast and a light lunch, let’s get going on dinner. When your guests arrive, have some snacks sitting out to welcome them. A great healthy snack that is delicious but won’t fill them up too much for the big meal are Chelsey‘s kale chips. Kale chips are so yummy and so light on calories! Gotta save those for what’s coming next ;).

If you want to give them a little something sweet to snack on, we all know how popular cake pops and – well, any kind of pop is right now. Katie makes some amazing – and light – gingerbread truffle pops:

A warm casserole is the perfect comfort food and would distract any guest from the lack of turkey at the table. Jenn from Peas and Crayons made an amazing Cheesy Rice, Kale and Mushroom Casserole that would be a perfect vegetarian treat on Christmas Day!:

Or how about, on the topic of casseroles, a vegan enchilada casserole from Angela at Oh She Glows?

Char at Char’s Kitchen has a fabulous gluten-free, vegan stuffing recipe you can’t say no to:

Finish dinner off with a naturally-sweetened pumpkin pie – no, pumpkin did not go away with Thanksgiving! Bring it back for the perfect Christmas dessert, thanks to the lovely girls at Naturally Sweet Recipes:

And send your guests home with a wonderful gift – Katie gave some great foodie gift ideas in this post, also suggesting you home make some of her Best Chocolate-Chip Cookies. I certainly wouldn’t mind that gift for Christmas!
